Basic Job Function: The Assistant Director of Human Resources will oversee all areas of Human Resources including; recruiting, salary administration, colleague benefits, management development/training and labor relations.

Pay Range: ( $7,083.34- $8,333.34 / Monthly Compensation )

Position Requirements

Essential Function

  • Lead and direct Human Resources functions of Training and Development, Benefits, Labor Relations and Recruiting.
  • Maintain thorough and current knowledge of State and Federal regulations and laws to ensure that the Resort is in full compliance.
  • Ensure concise and accurate interpretation of the union contract.
  • Participate in EEO, Unemployment, Wage & Hour, Worker's Compensation, OSHA, ADA, Immigration and Naturalization Service hearings. Implement policies and programs to guarantee compliance.
  • Ensures that human resource policies are updated and communicated to management and staff. Provides advice and interpretation regarding human resource policies as they relate to individuals and to Company objectives.
  • Serves as key change manager for initiatives that have high employee impact.
  • Leads talent cultivation, succession planning and onboarding initiatives.
  • Remains current and knowledgeable in the internal and external compensation and work competitive environments.
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, creative leader who thrives under pressure and is able to perform multiple functions and troubleshoot when needed.
  • Provides expertise, consultation and coaching to supervisors/managers/employees in areas of people management, including career development and performance feedback and all aspects of progressive discipline and documentation.
  • Participates with the Senior Management Team in long and short term human resource planning and the strategy/direction for the Company's human resource functions.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
  • Report all suspicious persons or activities and hazardous or unsafe conditions to the Security Department.
  • Provide instruction and/or guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.
  • Respond to guest questions. Provide guest assistance, direction and information as requested when working in public areas.
  • Participate in all employee relations activities.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Education/Training Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources preferred.
Experience/Skill Requirements:
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in all areas of Human Resources with three (3) years in either managerial or director capacity with emphasis in a union hospitality environment.
  • Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system utilizing various software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Human Resources Information System.

  • Strong leadership qualities, including excellent communication, ability to inspire and fostering a culture of trust, collaboration and high performance.
  • Ability to understand and manage one's own emotions in challenging situations.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail, work in a fast paced environment handle multiple tasks and have a high level of patience.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Knowledge of state and federal Employment and Labor Laws.
